2016 Popsugar Reading Challenge July Update

It’s been forever since I’ve updated my progress on this reading challenge. In fact, it’s been so long since I’ve even looked at the list, so I have no clue how much progress I’ve even made on the challenge. I’ve kind of had it in the back of my mind during the summer, so a few books that I have read have been for the challenge, but I don’t think I have made as much progress as I would have liked to. So, without any further ado, I’m going to get into what progress I’ve made since my last update in May.

2016 Popsugar Reading Challenge

What I’ve finished (titles in red are new since last update):

  • A YA bestseller: The Glittering Court by Richelle Mead
  • A book you haven’t read since high school: Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher
  • A book set in your home state: Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins
  • A romance set in the future: These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner
  • A book set in Europe: Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins
  • A book that’s under 150 pages: The Bad Beginning by Lemony Skicket
  • A book that’s becoming a movie this year: Nerve by Jeanne Ryan
  • A book you can finish in a day: The Crown by Kiera Cass
  • A graphic novel: Alias Vol. 1 by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Gaydos
  • A book that’s more than 600 pages: Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas
  • A book that is published in 2016: The Truth by Jeffry W. Johnston
  • A book with a protagonist who has your occupation: Famous Last Words by Jennifer Salvato Doktorski
  • A book that takes place during the summer: Since You’ve Been Gone by Morgan Matson
  • A dystopian novel: Breaking Sky by Cori McCarthy
  • A book with a blue cover: You Know Me Well by Nina LaCour and David Levithan
  • A book from the library: Finding Audrey by Sophie Kinsella

What I’m going to work on next:

  • A book based on a fairy tale: A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas
  • A NY Times Bestseller: Looking for Alaska by John Green
  • A science-fiction novel: Prodigy by Marie Lu
  • A book recommended by a family member: Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn
  • A book and its prequel: Happily Ever After by Kiera Cass
  • A murder mystery: With Malice  by Eileen Cook
  • The first book you see in a bookstore: Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
  • A book about a road trip: Paper Towns by John Green
  • A book that takes place on an island: The End by Lemony Snicket
  • A book that’s guaranteed to bring you joy: Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling

I’ve made it through 16 out of the 40 challenges for the year! Even though the year is more than half over, I’m still really proud of that. I know that some of the challenges I probably won’t get to, but it’s nice to have some interesting goals to try and achieve. Some of the challenges I inadvertently completed (book from the library), while others were deliberate. Also, I am counting The Bad Beginning as a book under 150 pages because there are a few blank pages at the ends of chapters that get counted as pages, and also because I am pretty sure that this is the smallest book that I own.
