The year has finally come to a close, and I have scoured my Goodreads to come up with my favorite 12 books that I have read this year. In some aspects, this really was a challenge, because I read so many amazing books this year. But in the end, this really was a no-brainer for me. I gave each one of these books 5/5 stars, and I just couldn’t put them down! So, in no particular order, my top 12 reads of 2016:
This book. Oh my goodness, I could not put it down. It ripped me to pieces and put me back together again, and then shredded my heart again. Over and over. This book made me feel so many things. You can see my full review here.
This was such a fun, cute Christmassy read! I loved the story so much, and it reminded me a lot of the Christmas tree lot that my family has bought our trees at for as long as I can remember. Plus, there’s some swoon romance. See my full review here.
Marie Antionette meets Breaking Bad. That was all I needed to be sold on this book, and I wasn’t disappointed in the slightest. This book left me wanting the next installment with that crazy plot twist! See my full review here.
I don’t think I even need to explain my love of this book. SJM killed it again, and killed me in the process. I am never disappointed by Queen Maas.
This is such a unique novel! I love the way that the story is told through a dossier of case files. Definitely a new one for me, and all of the crazy space drama kept me engaged. Even though this is a really big book, it’s such a quick read.
I first got excited for this book when I saw the cover reveal. Yes, I judged a book by its’ cover, but what’s inside is just as good as the beautiful outside! It’s like a futuristic Gossip Girl. Multiple perspectives can be challenging but this book handles it like a champ.
This book is full of sexy secret romance! The sequel to Confessions of a Virgin Sex Columnist! was the perfect followup. It was great to see the conclusion to this story and revisit some of my favorite characters. See my full review here.
Morgan Matson has quickly become one of my favorite contemporary authors. The characters in this book feel so real, and they face real problems. I learned a lot about life while reading this book. See my full review here.
I’d long been meaning to read one of Victoria Schwab’s books when I stumbled across this one at the library. I loved it so much! Monsters aren’t always who they seem to be, and neither are those who are supposed to be “good” in this novel.

This book completely changed my feelings on military-based stories. A dystopian Top Gun, this novel follows badass female pilot Chase Harcourt. The world needs more strong female characters like the ones in this novel. See my full review here.
